Angelika dela Cruz, nearly killed and become casualty of political violence on her campaign as Barangay Captain in Longos, Malabon City, on Saturday, October 26.
Reports said, the person behind the alleged assassination was her first cousin Ruel Santos?
Ruel Santos, also a candidate for Barangay Captain, allegedly had something to do with last Saturday's attempt on dela Cruz's life. The incident happened while dela Cruz was campaigning for local government post in Longos, Malabon, a man suddenly appeared and tried to stab her, fortunately, she was able to avoid the attack of the assailant.
Angelika said she is still traumatized by the attempt on her life.
Santos, who was linked to the incident because the suspect was wearing his campaign t-shirt, denied having a hand in the slay attempt.
"Ang t-shirt pinamimigay. Kailangan pa ba magsuot ka ng t-shirt para gawin 'yun?” he asked.
He also said it's impossible for him to do such things and expressed sympathy to the person who allegedly tried to stab Angelika after he was mobbed and hospitalized for his injuries.
Angelika said she feels "weird" running against a first cousin.
"Nakakasama ng loob. Pangit ang ganun, wala ka ng magagawa, it is what it is," she said.
Barangay Longos in Malabon has about 23,000 registered voters and has an internal revenue allotment worth P23 million. - ABS-CBNNews.com
