Award-winning actress Lilia Cuntapay is appealing for help to pay for her medical bills after a spinal cord problem left her unable to walk, let alone work.
Cuntapay, who made a mark in the Philippine entertainment industry for portraying urban legends creatures such as aswang, ghosts and white lady, is now asking for financial help after her spine sickness went worse.
Cuntapay, who use to stay in her hometown in Gonzaga Cagayan, sought the help of Task Force Lingkod Cagayan (TFLC) of the provincial government of Cagayan to help her move to her son in Pinili, Ilocos Norte.
The TFLC granted the wish Cuntapay. It also posted a video where the 81-year-old actress was seen appealing for help from her former workmates and colleagues in the entertainment industry. She specifically mentioned Vice Ganda and Coco Martin who became her friends.
The TFLC noted that the sickness of Cuntapay started to gets worsen on July 5 and has since then spent her days sitting. She also lost some of her projects because of this.
"Sa mga concerned citizens diyan, like yung mga directors ko, mga co-workers ko, wala na ako sa showbiz dahil may sakit ako,” Cuntapay, 81, in a video posted on Facebook, said. “Kung mahal ninyo pa ako, any help will be appreciated.”
The TFLC noted that the sickness of Cuntapay started to gets worsen on July 5 and has since then spent her days sitting. She also lost some of her projects because of this.
At present, the actress is in the care of her son in Pinili, Ilocos Norte.
Throughout 80s and 2000s, Cuntapay played the role of ghosts and aswang (human eating creatures) in horror movies and series. In 2011, she won Best Actress trophy in Cinema One Originals Film Festival for Antoinette Jadaone’s “Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay.
