Manny Pacquiao and Chris Algieri had their final staredown before Saturday night's clash in China. The weigh-in for the WBO World Welterweight Championship fight was a notable affair, as Algieri initially came in two ounces over the 144-pound weight limit. Pacman had no such issues, tipping the scales two ounces light at 143.8 pounds. The weigh-in ceremony was held today, November 21, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time (Saturday morning in Manila) at the Cotai Arena in the Venetian Macau.
The American Light Welterweight champion Chris Algieri removed the rest of his clothes on his second and best attempt to the weight but failed to make the 144 pounds limit. He also tried for the third time but he came at 142.6 pounds. The lowest weight was recorded by the organizers of the boxing event but noted that Algieri will be given two hours to shed two-tenths of a pound in order to make weight for this weekend’s fight at the Cotai Arena.
The Manny Pacquiao (55-6-2, 38 KO) vs. Chris Algieri bout will be shown live through HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. (ET) on Saturday night or Sunday morning in the Philippines, November 23, 2014 at around 10 a.m.
