The Filipino music icon Freddie Aguilar and his 16-year-old girlfriend Jovie Gatdula Albao will be getting married today in Maguindanao under Islamic rites after converting to Islam according to a report by Tempo.
Love always finds a way on the relationship of 60-year-old music icon and 16-year-old girlfriend as today, November 22, 2013 is the day of their wedding in Muslim Rites. Their love has been under great scrutiny after coming out in public barely month ago.
Aguilar is not allowed to marry Jovy Gatdula Albao because of her age. In Philippine Laws you are not qualify for marriage if your below the legal age of 18. The Muslim faith however makes an exemption. In Islamic Shariah Law a woman can get married provided that she already had her first menstrual cycle.
Their wedding will be officiated by Maguindanao Gov. Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu. Mangudadatu according to the report called up the Aguilar to get his “final decision” on the matter. The music icon then told the governor of his conversion to Islam and his desire to wed his fiancé under Muslim rites.
Governor Mangundadatu said he had agreed to marry the couple under Presidential Decree 1083, or the Muslim Family Code of the Philippines, he also clarified that the desire of Freddie Aguilar to embrace Islamic faith was first expressed in 2011 before he met girlfriend Jovie Gatdula Albao.
